Prerequisites:
While this course is designed for members of crisis negotiation teams, it is open to all members of law-enforcement or corrections, sworn or non-sworn, including SROs, CIT officers, dispatchers, support personnel, or mental health professionals or chaplains working in support of law-enforcement activities.
Students must register with a government-issued email address or provide a telephone contact number for prerequisite verification.

Course Description:
Adolescents experience mental health crises unique to their emotional and sociological development – you will learn how these issues differ from those of an adult. You will also learn of youth suicide trends within the U.S., developmental phases of adolescents and the impact on communication as well as intervention guidelines during an active crisis.
Training Objectives:
1. Identify mental health issues unique to childhood and adolescence
2. Recognize suicide trends of youth in the U.S.
3. Apply communication guidelines for adolescent intervention
Technical Information:
Prior to the start of the training session, students will receive a hyperlink and password via the “Attendee Email” provided at the time of registration which will provide access to the training session.
For this reason, it is important this is an email address which will allow the attendee to access the email on the date and time of the training.
The course is intended to be interactive with online students, and so each student must be registered and participating with their own electronic device (computer, laptop, tablet, or cell phone).

This course is limited to 30 students at a time. Agencies wishing to host an online training course which is open only to their agency or team should contact Deb McMahon at the numbers listed above.
This course is Missouri POST approved, and each registered attendee will receive email confirmation of training attendance and a digital certificate of attendance.
