Course Description:
Join us for the 2020 Missouri Association of Crisis Negotiator’s Challenge and Seminar!
In consideration of the unforeseen events of 2020, we are combining our Annual Challenge and Conference into a single, yet exciting, training event in Columbia.
This Fall event features the popular and well-attended 1-day Crisis Negotiation Challenge followed by a 1-day Seminar!
Corporal Duane Boynton of the Vancouver, Washington Police Department will be presenting an excellent case study: “Love Never Retires — Responding to the 80-year-old Active Shooter.” This presentation is brand new on the conference circuit and promises to be memorable.
Sergeant Christopher Burley of the Portland Police Bureau, Portland, Oregon will be presenting on a very timely and relevant topic: CNT Response to Protesters. This very practical presentation offers police agencies a number of excellent strategies for the use of CNT when responding to protestors. This presentation will include best practices and lessons learned from a myriad of protest events.
Both of these presentations have something for everyone in the field of crisis negotiation and intervention — crisis negotiators, dispatchers, tactical operators, and incident commanders.
The Challenge and Seminar fee includes the entry fee to the MACN Challenge on Day 1, refreshments on Day 1, attendance to the Seminar on Day 2, a catered lunch on Day 2 and certificates of training for 16 hours of MO POST approved training.
Judges: Teams participating in the competition must provide at least one judge to a judging pool. Judges must have attended at least a 40-hour basic course and have at least 2 years of negotiation experience.
Facilitators: Individuals who would like to participate as a facilitator may contact Deb McMahon directly or indicate your willingness to participate as a facilitator when your register. Facilitators assist in maintaining notional information for the scenario, coordinate tactical aspects of the scenario, provide oversight for role players, or manage administrative aspects of the scenario.
